In addition to the great health insurance benefits you get with MetroPlusHealth, we offer holistic perks and rewards that cater to your well-being through our OTC cards. Whether you have our wellness card or flex rewards card, you can purchase healthy groceries and health essentials – including things you may not have even considered.
How do I get my free OTC card?
Members of certain MetroPlusHealth plans can access free over-the-counter (OTC) cards as a wellness benefit to support a healthy lifestyle.
Essential Plan Members get the free MetroPlusHealth Wellness Card, where they receive $112 every quarter to spend on healthy groceries and over-the-counter (OTC) items. To receive your card and access your benefits, sign up through the MetroPlusHealth Member Portal.
Our Flex Rewards Card is available to members on our MetroPlus Advantage and MetroPlus UltraCare plans. Both plans provided comprehensive care for New Yorkers with Medicare and Medicaid, with the added benefit of accessing up to $500 each quarter for essential health-related expenses. Your Flex Rewards card will be mailed to you after you are enrolled.
What can I buy with my OTC card?
You can buy all sorts of things related to your overall health and wellbeing with your Essential Plan wellness card – OTC products, essential items like toilet rolls and toothbrushes, and even personal care items. That is $112 every quarter, or $448 every year, to invest in you.
The Flex Rewards Card has extra benefits and a little more purchasing power. In addition to OTC items and healthy foods, you can use your card to buy bathroom safety products like shower chairs and grab bars, and even pay for utilities, including electric, gas, phone, and internet. Managing your monthly utilities and managing stress is also a part of your overall health, and your Flex Rewards Card is there to help you with that.
Benefits for both cards expire each quarter, so be sure to regularly invest in your health and your needs, because staying healthy is more than seeing your doctor regularly.
Where can I use my OTC card?
Both OTC cards can be used at more than 3,500 retailers, including Amazon, Duane Reade, CVS, Walgreens, and Stop & Shop.

Coming in 2027
In 2027, members with the MetroPlus Platinum Plan will get access to the Flex Rewards card, which will offer $60 in benefits each quarter for out-of-pocket costs.
Meanwhile, members on the MetroPlus Advantage and MetroPlus UltraCare plans will receive even more benefits, with their OTC benefits going up to $725 each quarter.
