Use of Artificial Intelligence (Al)

MetroPlusHealth currently uses certain artificial intelligence (Al) tools to help support business operations and improve efficiency.

We use Al tools for purposes such as:

• Improving employee productivity and administrative work. </li<
• Searching and organizing information in document repositories. </li<
• Analyzing data to better understand trends and patterns. </li<
• Identifying members who may be at risk of disenrollment to improve outreach and support efforts.
• MetroPlusHealth currently uses Al tools including Microsoft Copilot, Databricks Genie, and other third-party data analysis tools.

Use of Protected Health Information (PHI)

MetroPlusHealth may share protected health information (PHI) with certain Al tool vendors when necessary to perform approved analyses. For example, PHI is used to help identify members who may be experiencing recurring issues with access to care. MetroPlusHealth requires vendors that receive PHI to protect that information in accordance with applicable privacy, security, and confidentiality requirements. Our organization does not allow Protected Health Information (PHI) to be used to train Artificial Intelligence (Al) models.

No Al-Based Decision Making

MetroPlusHealth does not use Al tools to make coverage, benefit, enrollment, disenrollment, claims, or other decisions about members. Al tools are used to support analysis and operational activities, and not as decision-making tools.

Commitment to Fairness and Non-Discrimination

MetroPlusHealth is committed to treating all individuals fairly and equitably. We work to ensure that the use of Al does not result in unlawful discrimination based on race, color, national origin, age, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, health status, or any other characteristic protected by law. We regularly review our processes and controls to help identify and address potential bias and to support compliance with applicable civil rights and nondiscrimination requirements.
