Know your rights and protections against surprise medical bills!
When you get emergency care or are treated by an out-of-network provider at an in-network hospital or ambulatory surgical center, you are protected from balance billing. In these cases, you shouldn’t be charged more than your plan’s copayments, coinsurance and/or deductible.

Manage your health online with MyChart. Members who receive care at NYC Health + Hospital facilities now have access to MyChart. MyChart is a free secure portal you can use to manage your health information. MyChart allows you to:
- Message your primary care provider’s office

When can I apply for Child Health Plus?
You can enroll in Child Health Plus any time throughout the year – there’s no waiting period or enrollment window.
Does Child Health Plus cover vision and dental services?
Yes, your child is covered for dental cleanings and X-rays every 6 months as well as other dental care. Orthodontic care is typically not covered.
Your child is also covered for annual vision tests and a pair of glasses each year.

CHPlus enrollment is open year-round for those eligible.
How much do I have to pay out of pocket for Child Health Plus?
There are no copays or deductibles for covered services with CHPlus. Depending on your income, you may have to pay a monthly premium. The chart below shows premiums by income level and number of children in the household.

Does my child have to be a citizen or a green card holder to qualify?
All children who live in New York are eligible for CHPlus, regardless of immigration status.
Does Child Health Plus cover prescription drugs?
Yes, CHPlus covers prescription drugs as well as non-prescription drugs ordered by a licensed provider.
