With access to top-rated health care providers and hospitals, the Essential Plan ensures that New Yorkers who are ineligible for public health insurance, but cannot afford private insurance, are covered.

The Essential Plan covers all of your basic needs, including preventive care, emergency care, and dental and vision care for very little or no cost at all, depending on family size and income.

Immigrants living in New York who have a valid visa or deferred action status can also receive free health insurance. You do not need to be a citizen or a green card holder to qualify, and applying does not affect your immigration or application status.

For New Yorkers, including immigrants, who meet Medicaid requirements, MetroPlusHealth’s Medicaid Managed Care Plan offers the same excellent insurance coverage with guaranteed $0 monthly premiums and copays. Medicaid even offers free transportation to medical appointments to reduce the stress of getting to appointments on time or relying on friends or family.

Whether you’re covered with MetroPlusHealth or not, you shouldn’t have to worry about your child’s health or healthcare. MetroPlusHealth’s Child Health Plus Plan gives options for families with kids under 19, filling the gap between public and private health insurance.

Child Health Plus offers the same quality insurance that parents get with $0 deductibles and $0 copays, although there may be a monthly premium depending on family size and income.

Immigrant children are also covered under Child Health Plus, with no need to worry about their immigration status. All children are eligible for Child Health Plus as long as they live in New York State and meet other requirements.
