2019 NOVEL CORONAVIRUS ALERT

Recently, a novel (new) coronavirus was detected in a number of people worldwide, mostly in China. A “novel coronavirus” is a strain that has not been previously found in humans. Symptoms for this new coronavirus can include fever, cough or shortness of breath.

Most people who were first diagnosed with this coronavirus reported exposure to a large seafood and live animal market in Wuhan, China. Recently, people diagnosed with this coronavirus did not report contact with that market. This means that person-to-person spread is occurring.

At this time, the risk to New Yorkers is low.
