UPDATE: Children’s Home and Community Based Services Benefit Expansion into CHP

IMPACTED PLANS: Child Health Plus (CHP)
Dear MetroPlusHealth Provider,
Effective January 1, 2025, per DOH mandate, MetroPlusHealth will begin coverage of Children’s Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) expanded into Child Health Plus benefits.
Children’s Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) include the following services:
- Adaptive and Assistive Technology
- Caregiver/Family Advocacy and Support Services
- Community Habilitation
- Day Habilitation
- Environmental Modifications
- Non-Medical Transportation
- Palliative Care: Counseling and Support Services
- Palliative Care: Expressive Therapy
- Palliative Care: Massage Therapy
- Palliative Care: Pain & Symptom Management
- Pre-Vocational Services
- Planned Respite
- Crisis Respite
- Supported Employment
- Vehicle Modifications
Not Covered: Health Home Care Management is not being added to the CHPlus benefit package at this time.
NOTE: It is anticipated that the CHPlus population eligible for HCBS services will be very small. Most children that qualify for HCBS will be Medicaid eligible, unless they qualify for HCBS services but do not meet Medicaid immigration or income status requirements as a “Family of One”.
