New York is notorious for its hustle and grind. Whether you’re an artist looking for the next place you can get affordable studio space, a creative freelancer working to drum up your next client, or a rideshare driver rushing between pick-ups and drop-offs, New Yorkers are out there making it work.

New Yorkers’ unique lifestyles mean that they have unique needs that their health care has to meet. As a health care company started for New Yorkers by New Yorkers, we get it.

How do I find in-network providers for MetroPlusHealth?

We know that it’s important to know things like whether or not your current doctor is in-network or who you might be able to get care from when you join MetroPlusHealth.

We’ve made it easy for our members (and potential members!) to figure out exactly which providers are in-network through our Provider Search tool. It lets you quickly and easily find doctors, specialists, dentists, and more who are in-network with MetroPlusHealth.

Not only can you see who’s in-network if you have a specific provider in mind, the Provider Search tool also lets you filter by location. This way, you can see who the closest in-network providers are to you, too. Whether you want to come from work or home, we have locations throughout the City.

What does in-network mean?

Not quite sure what’s meant by “in-network”? Don’t worry, health care terms aren’t easy to understand! We’re happy to help our members learn what they need to know to make informed decisions.

Let’s start with the basics: A network refers to the doctors, specialists, facilities, and other suppliers that your health insurance plan has contracted with to offer health care services.

“In-network” means that a doctor, specialist, or other provider is a member of your health insurance’s network. Providers become members by entering into an agreement with a health insurance company to offer services at certain rates, often at a discount. This means savings for both you and the insurance company.

In-network is the opposite of out-of-network, which refers to providers and specialists who don’t have one of these rate-based agreements with your insurance company. Out-of-network providers may still accept your insurance, but the cost for care will be much higher. You often pay significantly more for services from out-of-network providers than you do for in-network providers.

Let’s get specific: When you sign up for health insurance through MetroPlusHealth, in-network providers are doctors and specialists who have agreed to charge MetroPlusHealth and its members certain rates for their services.
