Behavioral Health

Whole Healthcare for Whole People

At MetroPlusHealth, we believe that physical and behavioral health are equally important elements of holistic healthcare. That’s why behavioral health benefits are an integral part of our health plans. Our members have access to an array of behavioral health benefits across adult, children and family, VFCA, HARP, and PIC/SNP/HIV services.

Because behavioral health doesn’t keep a 9 to 5 schedule, our behavioral health crisis partner, Vibrant Emotional Health, can be reached anytime day or night at 1-866-728-1885. We also offer Virtual Visits for round-the-clock care.

We work directly with our behavioral health providers so that all of our doctors and specialists can provide their patients with a full range of seamless, coordinated care. MetroPlusHealth also offers the following services:

  • Credentialing and contracting

  • Crisis call center

  • Utilization management that includes member appeals

  • Claim adjustments and payment

  • 24-hour clinical coverage

  • Case management

  • Care coordination

In addition to our robust Provider Resources, we also give our providers access to our Good4You Health Library that houses a thorough collection of articles and other tools to help you support your patients’ physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing.

For questions, claims, referrals, authorizations, or clinical matters, give us a call directly at 1-800-303-9626. You can also reference our Behavioral Health FAQs and the Provider Manual for answers to common questions.

The Importance of ACEs

Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) are stressful or traumatic events, ranging from neglect to violence and abuse, that occur during childhood and are common across population groups.  Research shows that ACEs are strongly tied to brain development and a wide range of health problems throughout a person’s life, from living in poverty to suffering domestic violence. There are, however, protective factors, too: supportive relationships, a healthy lifestyle, economic support, and quality childcare and education to name a few. Learn more about ACEs in a variety of languages here.
