NYC Street Vendor Scavenger Hunt

This spring, hit the streets and explore the city by joining the Street Vendor Scavenger Hunt!

The NYC Street Vendor Scavenger Hunt is an annual citywide adventure in which New Yorkers and tourists alike sign up to complete fun challenges while meeting the street vendors who make our city unique, trying new foods, and competing to win prizes–all while supporting NYC’s only street vendor organization!

How to Play

This year’s scavenger hunt will run from May 6th – May 31st, 2023.

To play, teams of up to five register to compete in this family-friendly scavenger hunt. Registered teams will gain access to a mobile app, unlocking challenges that test their street food trivia skills, require trying new foods, and will send them across the five boroughs.

They’ll be prompted with questions like “What’s in the halal cart white sauce? Get the recipe from a vendor” or “Visit + take a picture at the largest produce market in the country.” Teams can join the opening and closing ceremonies or sponsored street vendor walking tours
to meet vendors and explore the city.

Each team uploads photos as they complete the missions, competing to be crowned Street Vendor
Scavenger Hunt Champion!

Calendar of Events

Registration Launch | Thursday, April 6th: Teams can officially register online to
participate in the scavenger hunt.

Opening Ceremony | Saturday, May 6th at 12 PM in Sunset Park: Celebratory event to kick off the scavenger hunt in a neighborhood filled with street vendors and diverse offerings. The game goes live!

Walking Tours: Teams have the option to join walking tours led by SVP to meet street vendors and learn about their work.

• Saturday May 13 at 1 PM, Fordham Road, the Bronx
• Wednesday May 17 at 1 PM, Zuccotti Park, Manhattan
• Friday May 19 at 6 PM, Jackson Heights, Queens

Closing Ceremony | Saturday, June 4th at 12 PM. Location TBD: Teams gather for a festive celebration where winners are announced and prizes awarded.
